Welcome to Oracle Academy. Enrollment is nonnegotiable.
I’m Marik Nix, Oracle’s latest victim student.
OA has invited me to their elite school and I can’t refuse. Next thing I know, I’m transported to the academy where I’ll spend four years at the mercy of strict professors, dangerous trials, and nefarious bullies. Worse yet, the Overseers have handed me a prophecy I must fulfill before graduation… and die trying.
That’s right… Here, prophecies are never wrong, and mine claims I’m soon-to-be Oracle’s most powerful dead wizard.
Too bad I don’t want to die.
But surviving and changing my fate will take a miracle. When I’m asked to summon a Familiar—a creature to channel my magic—I’m blessed with three powerful, handsome shifters who answer my call. Thank you, universe.
Howl, the charming werewolf. Ozric, the passionate, courageous dragon. And Evarius, the sweet, protective bear. The three shifters may just hold the key to changing my fate… and stealing my heart. But to unlock our power, I must form bonds with each of them—starting with the dragon.
If Ozric’s searing flames don’t snuff me out, my prophecy and the bullies just might.
Wish me luck.
Magic of Dragon is the first novel in Xya Olsen's new Magic of Four series. Follow Marik and his mates as they fight to change their fate and earn their happily ever after. This is a story filled with love, magic, action, steamy m/m(+) scenes, and features harem and fated mates (Suitable for ages 18+)
Magic of the Dragon caught my attention just by the synopsis. Being a fan of Harry Potter I was instantly interested. Add in the fact that it was a gay romance as well as I was sold.
Magic of the Dragon is sort of a cross between Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. There is a magical school with different houses and a magical threat. The world is a country separated into districts each with their purposes all geared towards providing for district one.
Marik is different than those around him. His parents were hailed as heroes of their district while they were alive. But when Marik was young, his parents died from a mysterious virus, and at the age of ten Marik did not show any signs of magic.
Everything changes when his summons to the Oracle Academy comes. He is sorted and then given his prophecy to fulfill before graduation. Like before he is different from those around him from when his prophecy is read to summoning three familiars that are shapeshifters. Usually, students have problems summoning one, but three?!?
For me, there was not a lot of building of a relationship between Marik and his familiars/mates. There is mention here and there. But it is mentioned they all sleep and bed together and they slowly get closer and closer. For me, that was a major aspect that was missing.
Magic of the Dragon was a fast read. Each chapter kept the plot moving and contributed nicely to the story. I found the writing style easy to read. Overall the book was a great read and I look forward to learning more about Marik’s world and how he is going to try and find out what is behind the virus.
